REGISTRATION INFORMATION: SPLASHACATA (Richard Tasco, R. 1997) Sdlg: 93-41-15. TB, 35in (89cm), M. S. pallid violet; style arms same, midrib deeper; F. white ground, allover peppering of purple dots more concentrated at edge; beards white, pale violet cast at ent, remainger with hairs tipped golden yellow; lightly ruffled. Purple Pepper X 91-04: (Snowbrook x Jesse's Song). Superstition 1998. COMMENTS FROM RICK TASCO ABOUT SPLASHACATA: . . ."I got exactly what I was trying to get in that cross--a near-amoena plicata with all over speckling on the falls only. I guess I was lucky, the cross turned out the way I hoped it would, it usually doesn't work that way. The mountain of discarded iris seedlings at the back corner of my property can attest to that." . .."Now I'm trying to take the line into different colors, I've already introduced the following Splashacata children--Celestial Explosion (2004) and True Spirit (2004); True Spirit is a recessive plicata. And next year (2007), I may introduce another seedling with yellow standards 00-TB-08-63." Other seedlings with Splashacata in the background are: 02-TB-70-56 02-TB-72-70 03-TB-33-02 the above 3 are working towards a "black" version: 03-TB-35-02 03-TB-36-18 Here is a list of all the awards Splashacata has won: 1998 Jim Gibson Cup, Region 14 Spring Convention (best plicata) 2000 Jim Gibson Cup, Region 14 Spring Convention (best plicata) 2000 AIS Honorable Mention 2002 Jim Gibson Cup, Region 14 Spring Convention (best plicata) 2002 AIS Award of Merit 2003 Franklin Cook Cup, AIS Convention, Falls Church VA 2003 Favorite Guest Iris, AIS Convention, Falls Church, VA (this is a separate vote from the Cook/Presidents Cup) 2004 AIS Wister Medal (top vote getter) 2005 AIS Dykes Medal . . . .and a child of Splashacata (Celestial Explosion, Tasco 2004) won the 2005 Jim Gibson Cup (best plicata) at the Region 14 Spring Convention.
